Philosopher's Café

Topic: Paradox Lost: What is Canadian Foreign Policy About?
Hosted by John Kennair, Red Deer Polytechnic Political Science Instructor

"Foreign policy is domestic policy with its hat on." (EB White, New Yorker, 1942)

Canadian foreign policy today has been designed to develop the mythology of Canada's role on the world stage: its actions are primarily for domestic consumption. Since the end of the Cold War, Canada has drifted away from its past glories, resting on those laurels. Given the instability of the modern world today, can Canada find a new role for itself on the world stage?

The Philosopher's Café promotes open, meaningful dialogue where participants can share ideas and broaden their perspective by considering the views of others.
