Philosopher's Café
"Canada's Immigration Policy: Perceptions, Politics, and Prospects"
Hosted by Dr. Jones Adjei and Dr. Choon-Lee Chai, Red Deer Polytechnic Sociology Instructors
Immigration is increasingly becoming a polarizing issue in Canada, as it is in many other western societies. Using evidence from population-based surveys, we explore some of the perceptions about Canada’s current immigration rates and how these vary across partisan and other identity politics. The implications of immigration on Canada's demographic and socioeconomic development will also be discussed.
The Philosopher's Café promotes open, meaningful dialogue where participants can share ideas and broaden their perspective by considering the views of others.
No philosophical training or expertise is required.
